Eclipse is an object oriented IDE that is used to write programs in C++, Java, PHP, and Java EE. Eclipse versions are named after different things in space. (e.g. Mars, Luna, etc.) The latest version of Eclipse is Mars. Today, Eclipse is one of the most popular IDEs.
Eclipse has many features such as syntax highlighting, Javadoc, error highlighting, as well as a fully functional design editor (or window builder). Eclipse also comes with a built-in Compiler.
